Wellness Tips for Spring

The changing of seasons welcomes new beginnings and the opportunity to bring healthier habits into your routine, in and outside of the workplace.

From waking earlier to incorporating fresh, seasonal foods into your cooking, here are our top tips for embracing all spring has to offer.

Wake Earlier

The days are becoming longer, and brighter mornings present the perfect chance to set your alarm earlier and make a little extra time for you before the day begins. Try to avoid the temptation to flick through your phone, and instead try meditating or some gentle stretching to ease you into the day. If necessary, start heading to bed a little earlier too and refreshing your wind-down routine for a better quality nights sleep.

Spend More Time Outside

Spending time outdoors engages all of your senses, and has a big effect on your mood and self-esteem. Try adding a walk to your daily commute or lunch break, or take your meals outside to squeeze in some extra sunshine around your day. Even on a cloudy day, there’s still plenty of light to stimulate your mood.

Eat More Seasonal Foods

Spring brings an abundance of fresh and nutritious produce to the table - from apples, papaya, berries and avocado, to broccoli, zucchini, pumpkin and greens. Fill your plate with plenty of these in—season whole foods to nourish your body and fuel your day. Visit your local farmers market and try to choose organic where possible, especially for fruits and vegetables you eat whole from the outside.

Spring Clean

Winter hibernation is over, and now’s the perfect time to give your home and workspace a spruce. Not only will a spring clean help you feel more decluttered and organised, it can also strengthen your immune system and reduce stress. With seasonal allergies increasing at this time of year, it will also help clear any triggers like dust that have built up over the winter.

Reduce Stress

As we enter the last quarter of the year, it’s important to be mindful of your stress levels and busying schedule to avoid burning out. Introducing a regular stress-reducing routine is a great way to keep on top of things, and ensure you’re checking in with yourself regularly. Why not work a yoga class or mini meditation around your work day, and see the difference it makes!
